How to Make Your Own Dawn Powerwash Refill (and SAVE Money!)

If you’ve ever wondered if you could refill the Dawn Powerwash yourself, YOU CAN!

Today, I’m sharing a super easy recipe that works. You’ll need three ingredients, but the main ingredient that makes this DIY work so well is the rubbing alcohol.

So here’s everything you’ll need.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 13 oz distilled water
  • 4 tbsp Dawn Original Dish Soap
  • 2 tbsp rubbing alcohol

TOOLS:

  • Measuring cup / mason jar
  • Funnel

STEPS:

  1. Fill your measuring cup or mason jar with 13 0z of distilled water
  2. Add your Dawn dish soap and alcohol
  3. Stir ingredients together and let it sit for a while. About 3-4 hours to give the alcohol and water enough time to blend well.
  4. Pour your mixture into your empty Powerwash Refill bottle.

It WORKS! This recipe makes refills a 16oz bottle, but if you want to make more, you can just double the ingredients.

I hope you enjoy this hack as much as I do! Especially since a bottle of Dawn Powerwash Refill is almost $5 every time, you’ll be making your own for MUCH less than that!

    1. The 99% is more concentrated than 70%, which contains more water to make it more dilute. Same ingredients, just different ratios of water to alcohol. If you’re using isopropyl alcohol that you need to dry faster, as in painting with alcohol inks, you should use 99% with less dilution of water. For most household use, 70% is the most common.

    1. Yes. I’ve used it in carpet spots. Works great. After I clean the spot up I also sprinkle baking soda on it and let it dry. Then I vacilumn it.

  1. I read somewhere thar I can use vinegar instead of alcohol. Is this true?
