I am committed to honoring my capacity this year, I am committed to honoring my capacity this year, even if that means disappointing people.

Here’s everything I’m done doing:

❌ Explaining my decisions to feel understood
❌ Shrinking myself to make others comfortable
❌ Feeling guilty after saying no
❌ Needing to be liked to feel loved
❌ Saying “I’m fine” when I’m actually overwhelmed
❌ Doing things out of obligation vs alignment
❌ Living from pressure instead of peace
❌ Confusing kindness with self-abandonment

If you’re on this journey too, hello and welcome 🫶🏽

Right where I was 😭😭 I spent most of my life Right where I was 😭😭 I spent most of my life believing I had to find God.

Seek His face.
Seek first the Kingdom.
Ask, seek, knock.

And when I wasn’t doing any of that, I felt distant, like I was failing at being a His child.

What I’m realizing now is that God was present, patient, and near the whole time. 🥹 Just waiting for me to turn toward Him.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

So maybe being a child of God isn’t just about finding Him. Maybe it’s also letting yourself be found.

This season feels less like striving and more like surrender. Not because I went back to church or heard the perfect sermon, but because God met me right where I was. In the middle of my pain, my overwhelm, my busy life.

And He can do the same for you!

This past year, God showed me that He doesn’t need my strategy. He’s been faithful in ways I didn’t even know to ask for.

So no big New Year’s resolution.
I’m on whatever God’s on 🙏🏽

How I’m Reconnecting With God In The Middle of Motherhood

When you’re a child growing up in church, it’s so much easier to develop a relationship with God. Because outside of going to school every day, and having a few chores around the house, your little life doesn’t get in your way of spending time with Him.

Then you grow up, have a few children of your own, and suddenly it’s harder to make it to church every Sunday like you did as a child.

I’m in a season of my life where I’ve become an anchor for everyone else.

My husband when he needs rest.

My children when they need comforted.

My friends when they need someone to talk to.

My dog when she wants extra love and attention.

And then there’s groceries that have to be bought, meals that have to be made, and laundry that has to get washed.

It’s no wonder I’m often feeling weary and running on empty.

It wasn’t until recently God showed me that I can anchor in Him. Jesus said in Matthew 11:30, “My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.”

You see, the world tells women the solution for feeling overwhelm and burnt out is self-care. And I’m not saying those don’t work, but they will not last.

What I’m learning is that God wants to be the one we turn to and lean on in times of uncertainty, stress or overwhelm in motherhood. And when we come to Jesus with all that we carry as moms, instead of internalizing it, then we will find rest in Him.

“You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭114‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So I’ve started making small adjustments in my daily routine to help me feel more grounded and anchored in God, and I’m finding out that it is possible to live a Christ-centered life in the middle of motherhood.

Simple Prayers

I try to start my day by reciting The Lord’s Prayer since it’s very simple. And sometimes, when you don’t know what to pray for, this is enough.

Jesus said that the Father already knows what you need before you ask Him!

Here it is:

“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” — Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I’ve also started praying over my children before they leave for school, and getting us into the habit of giving thanks for every meal.

Going Back To Church

Since the pandemic, it’s never been easier to experience church at home. For the last 4 years, I’ve kept myself grounded watching sermons online, but recently I’ve felt it was time for us to find a good church home.

Now, our children look forward to church on Sundays because they are making new friends and learning more and more about Jesus!

But, perhaps the greatest benefit of going back to church for me is the opportunity to connect with other Christian moms and find a sense of community.

Turning To Scripture

I was never the type to open my Bible unless instructed to do so on Sunday mornings. But for the first time in my adult life, I’m seeing how the same scriptures I grew up hearing and reciting in church can actually be applied to my real life!

From scriptures for my anxiety or for when my patience is wearing thin as a mom, I’m finding strength and healing for myself daily. And it’s been such a blessing receiving this kind of encouragement from the Lord.

Psalms 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” and I get that now.

God Knows, and He Cares

As busy moms, we are always there for everyone else, but I encourage you to let God be there for you.

Receiving His love. Receiving His word.

Here is a simple prayer you can pray today, “Lord, I invite you into my motherhood journey. Help me to stay rooted in faith and anchored in You. In Jesus name, Amen.”

And that’s it! Congratulations for taking the first step toward living a Christ-centered life in the middle of motherhood.

The reflections on reconnecting with God resonate deeply, especially the emphasis on personal vulnerability. It’s a reminder that faith is an ongoing, evolving journey.
