This year, I decided to put up a Christmas tree in our bedroom. I am a homebody and spend a lot of time here so I wanted to make it look Christmassy for the holiday season!
It’s true that I am a neutral-decor kind of girl, but not when it comes to Christmas.
I’ve always loved traditional Christmas colors — red and green really does it for me! You’ll see it in my kitchen and a little of it in our bedroom.

The best thing about having a neutral home is that I can decorate for every holiday or season. I tried to keep these bedroom Christmas ideas as simple as possible for you today, and I decorated everything on a budget, so let the tour begin!
BEDROOM CHRISTMAS IDEAS
On our bed, I have white sheets, a white quilt, a white duvet with beige throw pillow covers, and a beige waffle blanket. I added a red Christmas lumber pillow and BOOM!
That pop of red was all I needed to make it feel like Christmas! Then I added pre-lit artificial garland to drape over top of our headboard which made it come together beautifully.
It’s simple. It’s merry. It’s bright!
My bedside table was the perfect place to add a Christmas plant. I love how these faux bright red berries tie together the red lumber pillow in a simple, subtle way.
I am soooo obsessed with the Threshold brand at Target and their faux plants, but you could use a Christmas arrangement of fresh flowers or a small poinsettia in your bedroom too!
Cheesecake anyone?! We washed it down with a Merry Mocktail and it was delicious!
DRESSER
The top of my dresser was looking a little sad so I added a $5 Walmart Christmas sign and a festive little teddy bear to sit on my jewelry box. If you need a jewelry tree stand, you can grab mine here.
Across the way, you’ll see another shelf in the background. This is where I keep my designer collection. I just put a mini white Christmas tree on top wrapped with a faux snow blanket that I got from Dollar Tree for $1.25 a piece!
SITTING AREA
I have to say that when we built this house I was so excited to have this big of a bedroom. It’s probably the real reason I never leave this space! 😂
Even our tv on the wall has a beautiful Christmas background! I simply searched on YouTube and there are tons!!! Some video backgrounds even play non-stop Christmas music.
The chairs and 20×20 pillow inserts are from IKEA, but I put these buffalo checkered pillow covers on them. I love how the black and white break up all the red in the room.
On the side table between the two chairs, I kept the decor simple too!
I used a wagon I found in the Target Dollar Spot section and filled it with some pine cones, added a $3 Dollar Spot Christmas tree (the buffalo pattern matches the throw pillows!), and a Tis The Season scented candle from White Barn.
Every time I decorate surfaces in our home, I try to stick to groups of three and incorporate something vertical, horizontal, and sculptural to add dimension without adding more clutter. I always put one object in front of another and arrange it in a triangular shape.
THE TREE
For reference, this is a 6ft pre-lit Christmas tree that I purchased back in 2020 to use in our apartment while we were in the process of building this house.
I decorated it with white, silver, and gold ornaments that I already had. The only new item I purchased for our bedroom tree this year is the red ribbon you see and it’s from Dollar Tree.
For the tree skirt, I used a knitted throw blanket that I wrapped around to save money!
I’m glad I didn’t go buy a traditional-looking tree skirt because this throw blanket is definitely giving that cozy bedroom vibe I was looking for.
I highly recommend everyone put a tree in their bedroom. It doesn’t have to be big or decorated to fill your room with joy!
I hope our bedroom Christmas ideas inspire you to get in the holiday spirit. I love our Christmas bedroom decor so much!!! I’m going to be so sad after Christmas when I have to take all this down.
