Have you ever walked past your kitchen sink and a god-awful funk smacks you, right in the face?
This happened to me the other day. I thought to myself, what is that smell?
It was the garbage disposal and it was stinky.
I deep cleaned both drains using the baking soda and vinegar method and worked to eliminate any foul odor immediately.
But if I’m being honest, I don’t always have time for all three steps required.
I wanted a faster way to clean and freshen up the garbage disposal in between deep cleaning.
How to Clean Your Garbage Disposal Without Baking Soda
I already throw ice cubes down the garbage disposal sometimes when I want to clean the blades.
But that doesn’t help with the smell.
One thing I know that always works is a fresh lemon!
So I thought if I’d marry the two, I’d have an easy garbage disposal cleaner!
Here’s what you’ll need:
• lemon peel
• white distilled vinegar
• ice cube tray
Lemon Garbage Disposal Cubes
I took a leftover lemon I had squeezed for a recipe and cut the peel into small pieces.
I placed 1-2 pieces in an ice tray. Then, I filled each compartment with vinegar.
Put it in the freezer and they’ll be ready in about 2-4 hours!
How to Clean A Stinky Garbage Disposal Fast
Once your ice cubes have frozen completely, you can take about 2-3 and toss them down the drain.
Run your garbage disposal without water at first for about 3 seconds. Then run hot water down the drain with the disposal still going.
You’ll begin to smell the lemon and vinegar working together right away cleaning and deodorizing your stinky drain!
It’s such a quick and easy solution to an annoying problem. Give this a try and let me know what you think!
